Default Row and Column identifier tabs now showing on sheet 1

On sheet 1 only, tabs identifying each row and each column are not displayed.
They are displayed on all other sheets. eg A B C FOR COLS OR 1 2 3 FOR
ROWS. How do I restore the "normal" appearance on a sheet?
