Excel IF function for text
I am trying to separate city, state, zip from 1 cell to 3 by using the IF
function. But I cannot get the IF function to recognize text values, only numeric. I have already changed the cells format to text, but to no avail. Any suggestions? Can it be done in excel? |
Hi
not really sure what you're trying to do but have a look at 'Data - Text to columns' for this. Also you may post: - an example - your tried formulas -- Regards Frank Kabel Frankfurt, Germany BarnyardJoe wrote: I am trying to separate city, state, zip from 1 cell to 3 by using the IF function. Put the text values in Quotes
ex IF(A1="TEST STRING","TRUE","FALSE") "BarnyardJoe" wrote: I am trying to separate city, state, zip from 1 cell to 3 by using the IF function.
