Default TURN LOWER CASE TO UPPER CASE IN EXCEL?

Help tries to explain how to turn lower case to upper case but fails miserably!
Can someone walk me through it?

If the lower case text is in A1, type this formula in B1 =UPPER(A1).

Tommy

Help says to enter a formula in a cell referring to another cell.

i.e. A1 contain tommy

In B1 enter =UPPER(A1)

If you more than A1 with lower case, you can drag/copy the formula from B1
down column A.

To drag/copy, hover the mouse pointer over the bottom right corner of B1 until
you see a black cross. Click on that and drag down the column.

=UPPER(A1) will change to =UPPER(A2) then =UPPER(A3) etc.

When happy with the results, copy the cells with the formula then EditPaste
Special(in place)ValuesOKEsc.
