Default Edit bar displays data different from table cell

As a former full time user and teacher of Excel I admire this program.

It would seem that the latest beta has a glitch, though.

When I click on a cell, the edit bar is displaying information different
from the table cell in some of the cells of my worksheet, which is an excel
2003 worksheet used in compatibilty mode.

This makes the program completely unusable for me, since I am unable to edit
the contents of some cells.

I downloaded the program on June 7. By the way, I am annoyed that many of
the things I used to know how to do, like click on Help:About to determine
the program version number, are no longer possible. How does one determine
the version number?

Hi Nick

While putting together a screen grab for you I discovered that the problem
is not what I thought.

It turns out that the edit bar text is right-justified instead of
left-justified as before, so that on my long text entries I was seeing only
the right-most part of the text which I wasn't seeing in the left-justified
cell. Not as big a problem as I thought, but I would still prefer to see the
left-justified text in the edit bar. Unless you are from a country that reads
text from right to left, you should see the left-most text in the edit bar
first.

Can you send me a screen grab of this?

The text entry in the cell shows differently in the cell than in the edit
bar.

(Thanks for the tip on HelpAbout)

What is it displaying differently?

Why can't you edit some cells because of this?

Just a little further experience with this shows me that there is an up/down
arrow control on the right hand side of the edit bar which scrolls through
the sections of the entry on items that don't fit within the edit bar. There
is no problem with justification, but the line first displayed should be the
first part of the entry. It is a cool control and I really like it.
