Hello everyone,
I have serveral users who receive Excel files on a monthly basis from the same individual, someone outside of the company. Upon opening the Excel spreadsheet, Excel hangs and must be terminated manaully using Task Manager. Once Excel starts again, the spreadsheet in question appears in the Recovery pane and can be recovered. After that, no problems opening and closing the file. The strange thing is that these users can go weeks with no problems, and then the next file comes out and the same thing happens. For on user in particular, the hanging of Excel only appears to occur the first time a file from this external user is viewed during the day. Whether my cowworker rebooted the computer prior to the last hang is not known. I haven't been able to determine if this is the same case for the others. I've checked the Excel spreadsheet for anything out of the ordinary, but haven't found anything. I'm running a Windows 2003 domain. The users in quesiton are all domain users. I have opened the spreadsheets as a domain admin and domain user with no problems. Any thoughts on what to look at next? |
