Default Copying from one spreadsheet to another - formulas don't come alon

In Office 2000.

I have a spreadsheet, and I open another instance of Excel. In the first
spreadsheet I select some rows and columns and copy them. I then paste them
in the second spreadsheet.

The values copy, but the format and formulas do not.

Paste - Special gives me options to paste in the range of cells as an image.

So how do I copy the formulas from one spreadsheet to another?

this may not be the most elegant way but you could copy the formula from the
formula bar at the top of the screen except for the leading = sign. Then
paste into the new workbook and then add the = back into the 2nd workbook.

Dan,

There are some known issues with copying and pasting to a different
instance of excel. For example, copy:visible cells then paste in a new
instance will paste all cells not just the visible ones that were copied.

Is there a reason you must use a different instance of excel rather than
just opening a new workbook?
