My boss held down a key for longer than 8 seconds and a message box appeared
and without looking at it held clicked OK....now he says Excel is locked and we don't know how to unlock it |

I don't know what that could be Seaside.
I do know that you can turn on disability settings within Excel by holding down the Shift key for 8 seconds. But that shouldn't "lock" excel. You can go to Start:Control Panel:Accessibility Options to turn these features off if that is what is happening. Hope that helps.
