I read what you wrote but I do not how I can do it. could you be so kind to
help me on this issue.
I made a search and I found 4 files verclid.exe, one of them is prefech and
the other is locate in the windows system 32, the others 2 are in windows
software distribution\download\73a765a7ebf2e1b5a6655f2bb798 b30f\sp2gdr;
c:windows\softwaredistribution\download\73a765a7eb f21b5a6655f2bb798b30f\sp2qfe

I made another search about KB908531 you mentiones in your response and I
tried to delete but the software tell me if KB908531 is removed these
programs might not run properly [security update windows xp KB911562 and
912821] do you want to conyinue? yes or not.

Don't rename the prefetch file but rename all the others. Make sure you
remember what you do so that at some point when MS puts out a patch for the
patch (LOL!) you can restore things to their original state. Maybe create a
little description of what you did in a Notepad text file just as a
reminder.

I would probably create a restore point, then do the registry option
