Default Menu & tool bars in Excel vanish after using display manager power

The following occurs when using the Virtual Display Manager powertoy from
Microsoft. I open Excel 2003, say in desktop 1. When I switch away from
desktop 1, upon returning to desktop 1, the menu bar and toolbars in Excel
are missing. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a solution or
work-around?

I noticed it and reported it to MS when this toy was in 'beta'. I do not
believe it was ever fixed, and I know of no workaround.
