I constantly export data from access into excel worksheets but the figure
columns always show a '£' sign even though the format of the access field is set to 'standard'. Does anyone know how to resolve this. |

Sound like the format on the Excel sheet is set to currency!

check this setting- In windows, Start / Settings / control panel / regional
