default save as
when we opened an excel from our server via office 97adn then saved using the
save as function ,it would take the perticular pcs current directory. Now on using excel2003 it only seems to default the directory in the excel we are opening. This is causing much work as 1 master sheet is used and saved by 15 diff.users in their own default folders. Is this how 2003 works or have we missed a setting? Tools / options
General tab. Default file location. Change it to whatever you want. I just tried it myself (didn't try it from the network). Same issue you have.
If you figure it out please post...I will be working on this now myself as well. xl2k changed this behavior--most people like the new behavior.
If you open an existing workbook and do a file|SaveAs, xl97 uses your current folder. xl2k+ uses the folder that contained the existing file. Jim Rech posted a registry tweak that will save to the current folder: http://groups.google.co.uk/group/mic...fbf12fcb6b44ec or http://snipurl.com/hpkj The 10.0 in the registry key refers to xl2002. 9.0 = xl2k 10.0 = xl2002 11.0 = xl2003 johnw wrote: when we opened an excel from our server via office 97adn then saved using the save as function ,it would take the perticular pcs current directory. Now on using excel2003 it only seems to default the directory in the excel we are opening. This is causing much work as 1 master sheet is used and saved by 15 diff.users in their own default folders. Is this how 2003 works or have we missed a setting?
