Default Excel should have a hanging indent for long text entries

Suggestion: You could much more easily pick out the first word (i.e., the
first line) in a cell in a column of cells each containing a long, wrapped,
text entry, if Excel had the capability of first-line hanging indents (like
Word). Compa

For a list like this, you might be better off creating a table in MSWord and
using all its formatting capabilities.

The cells discussed each head a row of data cells that require a spreadsheet
to process.

I agree. This would be a handy feature. So many other formatting options
are already included in Excel. I believe this request is feasible.

I also disagree with using word to create tables, unless it is used as a
reference to a document. At that point, I copy a table from excel and insert
into my word document.
