The date format appears only with the month (e.g. Jan) and not the year, even
though I have formatted the cells to show, e.g. Jan-05. |

You shouldn't need to format the date for a year. If you right-click on the date header and select Group and show detailGroup... you will then be able to select months and years. This will add a new field with the year in it.
