Default Locking the background so it's not wiped by cut-n-paste

Hiya,

Does anybody know how to lock a background design (grid, colours etc) so
it's not moved when you cut and paste the contents of the cells, leaving
plain white blank cells behind?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Can I assume this is something that can't actually be done in Excel then? :(

Not without using some code to store the formats then replace after the
cutting.

I have no code off the top of my head to do that.

Perhaps just copy and paste then come back and delete the contents.
