Default Excel 2007 not calculating margins & print area correctly

In Excel 2007, one of our users experiences regular issues with Excel not
calculating margins & print area correctly. Ive reviewed this users print
settings, and looked at the same document on my computer (where it had no
problems setting the print area correctly).

Basically, Excel is making every row a separate page. There are no page
breaks manually set, and its print settings are set to 1 page wide by
automatic pages tall. When I try to go into print preview, or the margins
tab of the print settings, I get a popup error reading Margins do not fit
the page size. The page size is set to 8.5x11, and the margins are set to
Excels normal (.75 top/bottom, .7 left/right). Ive gone through and reset
these options multiple times.

In this document there are no macros, no unusual formulas or formatting
its literally a default file with about 50 rows x 6 columns worth of
unformatted text data.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks,
Jeff W

Is the user's printer set up on their computer, or do they have the default
Jet Engine as their default printer?

The user's printer is setup, and they've successfully printed to it with
other applications, as well as a few other Excel files. The file I described
in the first post, plus a few similar ones, are the only occurance of this
problem that we've seen so far.

It may be best to try to localize the issue.

If you set a certain number of pages as your tall range, does the issue
persist?

What if you set his computer to print to your printer?

Hello, I am experiencing this very same problem as well. It does not help
to set a certain number of pages as your tall range, to answer your question
from below. I just keep getting hammered with the "Margins do not fit the
page size." error message, whatever that means. I believe this is an Excel
2007 issue; I've never experienced this in previous versions of Excel and I
am an experienced Excel user (just not in Excel 2007). I look forward to
hearing more about this weird problem.

Default Excel 2007 not calculating margins & print area correctly

To elaborate further, I now have one worksheet in an Excel 2007 file which
is set to print every single cell as its own page, which of course I do not
want. I am unable to change the print area by (1) setting the print area
(from Page Layout tab), (2) viewing in Page Break Preview and dragging, or
(3) using Page Setup. In the first case, resetting the print area simply
doesn't do anything (it just reverts back to the "print every cell as a page"
mode). In cases 2 and 3, I get the "Margins do not fit the page size." pop
up error. Page Setup is completely useless - I cannot change any setting at
all in Page Setup without getting the pop up error. I cannot recall what I
did to back myself into this situation, but it has happened to me now several
times, in different Excel files, in the few days I have been using Excel
2007. Regards, Jeff

Default Excel 2007 not calculating margins & print area correctly

I am experiencing the very same problem on multiple Excel docs when using my
PC. However, if I pull the very same doc on a different PC, I am able to
adjust print ranges and print normally.
