Help!
I've been creating worksheets that reference other workbooks and all of a sudden, when I open the worksheet I've been working on after the dialog box comes up saying, "This workbook contains links to other data sources" and I click "Update" then I get the "Unable to read file" I click OK, then I get the "This workbook contains one or more links that cannot be updated" and I click "Continue" So, I have re-booted, and then reinstalled Office (according to the forum instructions) but now I am at a loss. Interestingly, when I go to the other workbooks that Excel is "unable to read" and I go to Tools, Share Workbook... and check the box the files then can be opened by my worksheet. And, if I go back and uncheck the box, My worksheet can still access the workbook. However, this isn't an option, I need automation. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated, TIA, Greg |

Also, When I go to Edit - Links... and click on "Check Status" I get "Error:
Source not found" But, when I click on "Open Source" it opens beautifully with no messages at all. I'm stumped. "Greg" wrote: Help! hi greg,
as stated by you in your second post, i feel that your workbook is referring to more than on workbooks, out of which one or more are missing on your computer. kindly check for all the links under Edit - Links... and select each of them one by one and click on "Open Source". i m sure u will get the answer if this helps, click yes below "Greg" wrote: Also, When I go to Edit - Links... and click on "Check Status" I get "Error: Source not found" But, when I click on "Open Source" it opens beautifully with no messages at all. Thanks, I did that prior to my post. Still didn't clear things up. Even
creating a new workbook, selecting the link by mouse click (not typing an address) I still can't reference the workbook upon opening. I'm trying anything! Thanks for your idea, if you have more, please send them on to me! Thank you, Greg "YESHWANT JOSHI" wrote: hi greg, as stated by you in your second post, i feel that your workbook is referring to more than on workbooks, out of which one or more are missing on your computer. kindly check for all the links under Edit - Links... and select each of them one by one and click on "Open Source". i m sure u will get the answer if this helps, click yes below "Greg" wrote: Also, When I go to Edit - Links... and click on "Check Status" I get "Error: Source not found" But, when I click on "Open Source" it opens beautifully with no messages at all. hi greg,
this is another possible solution found somewhere on this community only. pl check whether it helps you in solving your problem. In your spreadsheet, hit Ctrl + backwards apostrophe - it's the button (usually) to the left of the number one button above the Q button. make sense? When you do that, it will "open" up all your formulas, and will also open up links, making them easily visible. then you can delete it manually. then hit Ctrl + backwards apostrophe again to "zip up" your formulas. click yes below, if it helps "Greg" wrote: Thanks, I did that prior to my post.
