I have a worksheet with a pivot table and an associated pivot chart,
all
nicely formatted. I want to make a duplicate of this so I can
configure the data selection differently (this goes out to a group of
users who aren't so good at doing more than basic manipulation of the
pivot table), but still retain the
formatting and structure. In Excel 2003, I just duplicated the
worksheet and the new
pivot chart would be associated with the new pivot table. In Excel
2007, I find the new pivot chart is *still* tied back to the original
pivot table. Is there a way around this?

If I select the Pivot Chart Tools, I see 'Select Data', but the
section
for "Chart data range" is grayed out and will not allow edits. Any
help is
greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Select the chart and press Alt D P you will find yourself in the 2003 pivot
table wizard, click the Back button and specify a new range.

If you are using a Table, the renaming sequence is critical:

Thanks! I think I can make this work. It is a bit round about as it
creates a new pivot table to which the chart is now linked, but that
is fine. Thank you!!

I found the same problem - that I could not just copy the entire Excel sheet and rename the data source. But all you have to do is create a new chart, select your old chart and COPY, then select your new chart and PASTE (I use control C and control V). This pastes all the formatting from one chart to another! (wish I'd found this 2 months ago!)
