I am using Excel 2003 with sheets 1 & 5 using the dropdown. Sheet 6 is where
the dropdown data is located.

The dropdowns in sheet 5 are working but I lost the dropdowns in sheet 1 and
I cannot seem to add them back.

I have tried removing the "Name", adding is back and validating again but
that did not work work.

This document is often saved as a shared workbook but in order to create
dropdowns you have to unshare.

I also had auto-filters on sheets 2-4 and I took them off (even though they
are not using the dropdowns) thinking maybe there was a problem with that
function.

I have also done a detect and repair and that did not help.

This workbook is not protected.

What am I missing?

I am assuming you are referring to Data Validation, and you are using
a named range as the list?

correct, I am using a named range with data validation.

I tried to create a dropdown on a new workbook and I dont have any issues.
