Default getting the zero digit to show in a cell e.g. 0456

When I number where the first digit is a e.g. post code/zip code 0358, I
can't get the zero to apprear unless I convert the cells to text format and
then re-enter the number.

That's one option, another is to precede the entry with an apostrophe:
'0358. The apostrophe will not be displayed in the cell.

Another possibility is if the number will always be the same length (zip
code at 5 digits for example), then you can Custom Format the cell using
that number of zeroes (5 for the zip code example) for the pattern in the
Type field (that is, put 00000 in the Type field for the zip code example).

Hi,

You can leave the zip code as numbers and then choose Format, Cells, Number
tab, Special, Zip Code or Zip Code + 4.

If this helps, please click the Yes button

Cheers,
