Good morning,
I use define names in my Excel file, and I have about 1800 define names in that file. From time to time, I would like to make changes to the file, like adding and deleting rows, columns and cells, making changes to the formatting, etc. What I like to know is what kinds of changes would mess up my define names. Thanks. |

That many defined names may cause problems. I have had clients pay me to
delete the names. However, you should have your names defined to be flexible. -- Don Guillett Microsoft MVP Excel SalesAid Software "AccessHelp" wrote in message ... Don,
Thanks for your response. Please share with me on kinds of problems that could cause due to defined names. Please also share with me what do you mean by "defined names to be flexible". Basically, I use defined names to extract those pieces of data from the file. Thanks. "Don Guillett" wrote: That many defined names may cause problems. I have had clients pay me to delete the names. Hi,
If you delete the range that the range name is refering to the defined name displays a #REF error. Most formulas that use that range name will also return the error. VBA code that uses the range name will fail. You can quickly display a list of all range names with errors, by choosing Insert, Name, Paste, Paste List. If this helps, please click the Yes button. -- Thanks, Shane Devenshire "AccessHelp" wrote: Don, Thanks for your response.
