When I click the icon to open an excel file, the dialog box doesn't show the
file names sorted in alphabetical order anymore (regardless of the directory I'm trying to open a file from). It appears to be some random order, possibly the order in which I last viewed the files. How can I change it back to the standard alphabetical sort which it's ALWAYS been before? This is Excel 2003. |

In the File Open dialog, you can sort the files/folders shown by any of the
field headings in the dialog. The field it is sorted by will contain an upward-pointing triangle in the field heading if in ascending order or a downward-pointing triangle if in descending order. Click on the Name field heading until you see the upward-pointing arrow by the word Name. Hope this helps, Hutch "DonnaROnna" wrote: When I click the icon to open an excel file, the dialog box doesn't show the file names sorted in alphabetical order anymore (regardless of the directory I'm trying to open a file from). In the open dialogue window click on the name header, you might have clicked
the date modified. This is a windows setting so you can open any folder not just in Excel and do this -- Regards, Peo Sjoblom "DonnaROnna" wrote in message ... Have you tried FileOpen"View" and selected "details" then clicked on the
Name column to sort?
