Default Inserting a picture object and double-clicking on it opens photo e

Hello all,
Can you explain the following behavior. A jpeg image is inserted as an
object in (windows 2000 os), an Excel 2002, spreadsheet...shows up as the
image which is re-sized to fit the cell area. When double-clicked it opens
the photo editor and not Format the object, which is the default behavior. I
cannot re-create this behavior. The student wants this to happen because it
is easier to see the writing on the jpeg image if it can be opened up as big
as possible. Viewers of the spreadsheet are instructed in the spreadhseet to
double-click to see the picture details, but when I double-click, it opens
Format, Object. Can you tell me how to change the default behavior so it
does open the image viewer.

Thanks!

My bet is it's the difference in the way the object was added to the worksheet.

If I use Insert|Picture, then I get the format Picture dialog.

But if I use Insert|Object|Create From file, I get whatever application is
associated with that file type. (Although, I see a generic icon when I do
this.)

Dave,

You are exactly correct and that what will happen when others view this file
is that the double-click will open Format, PIcture. Of course, if I can come
up with an explanation of why one computer opens the viewer and another opens
format, the student will gain a better understanding of why certain solutions
are not appropriate when sharing a file.

Thanks!

Different users get different actions when they click on the same picture in a
copy of the same workbook???

I don't have an explanation for that.
