XLstart for Mac?
I'm switching from a PC to a Mac. Where do I store personal.xls (where all
my macros are)? I can't seem to find the XLStart folder... Thanks! |
XLstart for Mac?
Raza -
I don't have a Mac here at the moment to check, but the location of the Personal Macro Workbook on a Mac is likely the Applications / Microsoft Office ... / Office / Startup / Excel folder. If you need more assistance, I suggest you post in the following quite active newsgroup: microsoft.public.mac.office.excel And you can use groups.google.com to search for relevant postings in that newsgroup. Another resource is JE McGimpsey's web site, particularly http://www.mcgimpsey.com/macoffice/index.html - Mike Middleton http://www.DecisionToolworks.com Decision Analysis Add-ins for Excel "Raza" wrote in message ... That worked great!
Now my other problem is that none of my old macros work! :( "Mike Middleton" wrote: Raza - I don't have a Mac here at the moment to check, but the location of the Personal Macro Workbook on a Mac is likely the Applications / Microsoft Office ... / Office / Startup / Excel folder. The default Startup Folder is
HD:Applications:Microsoft Office 2004:Office:Startup:Excel though I recommend you assign an alternate startup folder in Preferences/General. I put my folder in the ~:Documents:Microsoft User Data: folder (where ~ is your home folder). The default MacXL macro workbook is called Personal Macro Workbook (no extension), though as with WinXL, it's just a regular workbook that's stored in the startup folder with its window set to hidden. You might want to post on the MacXL newsgroup: microsoft.public.mac.office.excel Couple of things: 1) MacOffice VBA is VBA5, so VBA6-specific code (e.g., VBA Replace(), Join(), Split(), Rnd()) won't work. 2) ActiveX controls are Windows only - replace them with Forms toolbar controls. 3) A very few commands have different syntax (e.g., GetOpenFileName). |
