Suggested method for disabling warning when opening hyperlink was to
See: http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=829072 which explains how to change the registry. After stating this was quite scary, responder suggested I post a suggestion to Mircrosoft. Full conversation reproduced below. BTW. I changed registry. But to no avail. I still get the warning even after closing Excel and starting again. My workbook contains many links to other files - all on my PC. Links to files in the same directory open without a warning. But links to files in other directories do not open until one says OK to a warning ("some files can contain viruses ..."). I cannot store all files in the same directory but do not want to have to say OK to open any files. Is there any way to disable this warning? Can't find anything in Help or under Tools/Options/Security. See: http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=829072 -- Gary''s Student - gsnu200752 Thanks. Quite scary though - both the way it has to be done and the fact that it affects hyperlinks to all files. Surprising that this can't be done in an easier way and/or just for local files or just for Excel. Eugene I agree with you. Why not post a suggestion to Microsoft on this issue ? -- Gary''s Student - gsnu200752 ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes. Posting a suggestion to Microsoft will do nothing for your problem in the short
term. You changed the registry and still gey the warning? Did you follow all the steps, especially the ones that state "if you continue to get the message after you follow etc. use one of the methods below" Gord On Tue, 30 Oct 2007 08:19:04 -0700, eugene wrote: Suggested method for disabling warning when opening hyperlink was to See: http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=829072 which explains how to change the registry.
