If I try and use a web query with the following site
http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/stats/...n/yearly/MLB/P I get a message that says the web query returned no data. I click on the arrow right by player and it highlights all the players names and their stats. Anyone know why it doesn't import the data into excel? Is there too much data? Thanks |

Works fine for me, although one have to do some editing since it imports
some trash as well (I would import it, then select the table itself from the import and copy and paste into a new sheet, then import the next 50 and so on) but I got the first 50 players with their stats. I did as follows, dataget external datanew web query, then I put in the web address, select only the tables, and no formatting. This is excel 2000, I have xp and 2003 at home but I am sure I can do it using them as well. I did it with the first 100 players, first imported 50, copied and pasted, then imported next 50, copied and pasted below the first 50 -- Regards, Peo Sjoblom "Jambruins" wrote in message ... Peo, what was your settings in the web query options box? Unde formatting I
have none selected. Under Import Setting for preformatted <PRE blocks I have import <PRE blocks into columns and treat consecutive delimiters as one. Under Other import settings nothing is checked. Thanks for the help. Same here, I have no problems. Are you doing this from work? Could it be a
company network setting? Btw, there is no need to highlight anything on the webpage itself, just put the URL where it should be, do any changes using the dropdowns (on the webpage) and import, that should give you an option where to put the imported data, then it will take a while transferring it depending on the speed of your connection -- Regards, Peo Sjoblom "Jambruins" wrote in message ... It is working for me now. I set it to update every time the file is opened.
When I close the file and open it back up it asks me if I want to enable automatic refresh and I select the enable automatic refresh. However, the sheet is empty after is refreshes. Any idea why my data disappers when it refreshes. This is with a different website that does change. "Peo Sjoblom" wrote: Same here, I have no problems. Are you doing this from work?
