Default Excel slow opening

My computer is one of those that decides not to be able to instantly open
Excel files by double clicking a shortcut, etc. (if Excel isn't already
open).
I did the recommended fix which I obtained via this newsgroup. ie. add [rem
see command line] and "%1" in the appropriate sections for the relevant file
types.
This did the trick for a while, but now no more.
Does anyone have a better solution?

Rob

Hello Rob
Do you have any addins loaded in Excel?
If so, try and unload some of them.
Apart from that check if "Ignore other applications" is NOT ticked in Tools,
Options, General tab.
