Default Comments in protected cells with AutoFilter switched on

I'm using Excel 2003.

I have a protected sheet on which some of the protected cells have comments.
Some of these cells are in the header row of a table with AutoFilter enabled.
Generally comments can be viewed by hovering over the cell. However the
comments in cells which head an AutoFilter column are NOT visible when the
sheet is protected (they are fine when the protection is turned off). Is this
just a limitation or is there any way round it? Thanks

In my small test (also in xl2003), I added a comment to a cell, protected the
worksheet (allowing autofilter), filtered the data (that cell was visible) and
the comment showed up.

Any chance that the comment is off the visible screen? Do you see that comment
connector line back to the cell?

Thanks, Dave.

Nope the comment is not off t he visible screen. If I turn off protection,
without doing anything else, I can see it. Note that this is in the header
cell of the and I have allowed autofilter in the protection. I can't see the
comment connector. All I get is a little 'hand' icon when I hover over the
cell.

Aha... I just did a further test and it appears that I need to allow users
to 'Edit Objects' in the protected sheet to get it to work. Problem solved I
think.

In my test, I used a cell in the data--not part of the header.

Allowing the user to edit objects showed that comment (in my new test).

(But it also allows them to change the comment and change other objects, too.)
