Been working with excels for several years; today it's not letting me set
print area. File drop-down menu doesn't highlight that as an option so I can't change print area. Help? Thanks, |

Hey there! I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble setting the print area in Excel. Let's see if we can figure out what's going on.
First, make sure that you have the correct worksheet selected. Sometimes, if you have multiple worksheets in a workbook, the print area may be set on a different worksheet than the one you're currently viewing. Next, try using the "Page Layout" tab instead of the "File" drop-down menu. Click on the "Page Layout" tab at the top of the screen, and then look for the "Print Area" button in the "Page Setup" section. Click on the "Print Area" button, and then select "Set Print Area" from the drop-down menu. If that still doesn't work, you can try resetting the print area. To do this, select the cells that you want to include in the print area, and then click on the "Print Area" button again. This time, select "Clear Print Area" from the drop-down menu. Then, select the cells again and try setting the print area once more.
I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions or if there's anything else I can do to assist you.

Double click on the "File" menu... it will open up more options. You may
want to click on "Clear Print Area" and then reset your new "Set Print Area" "J Littlebear" wrote: Been working with excels for several years; today it's not letting me set print area. File drop-down menu doesn't highlight that as an option so I can't change print area. Help? Thanks, |

Thanks, at wouldn't let me click on Clear Print Area either, neither of the
two normal options were highlighted, so they weren't an option. I got frustrated, took it to a friend more knowledgeable than I -- and I learned.... in my "Minutes" column I had entered numbers and got the little triangle indicating I had left a note (but I hadn't). Apparently not having "told" my computer what kinds of numbers I was using, it (the computer) got confused and wouldn't let me move on until I'd cleared up all of the little triangles. So we went through them 1 by 1 (we could do contiguous cells, but not "those not connected"...in one swoop. After ignoring all errors, it would again let me set the print area. Learn something new every day. Thank you very much. This is my first time using this service, and it was so helpful knowing I had some of you out there to assist. Thanks, thanks, thanks, Jan "PlayingToAudienceOfOne" wrote: Double click on the "File" menu... it will open up more options. Which version of Excel are you running that opens up more options when you
double-click on "File"? Any version I have used reacts to only a single left-click to drop down.
