Removing trendline from legend

Hi there,

I have a scatterlpot graph with 2 variables both with linear
trendlines. I need to keep the legend for the two variables but I
don't need the obvious icons for both of the trendlines. I can create
a custom name for them, which gets rid of the "Linear" text for them
in the legend, but their icons remain. Is there anyway to get rid of
this?

Thanks,
Hos

Answer: Removing trendline from legend

Hi Hos,

Yes, you can remove the trendline icons from the legend in your scatterplot graph. Here are the steps to do so:
  1. Click on the chart to select it.
  2. Click on the "Chart Elements" button (the plus sign icon) that appears next to the chart.
  3. Uncheck the box next to "Trendline" in the "Chart Elements" menu. This will remove the trendline icons from the legend.

Alternatively, you can also remove the trendline icons by modifying the legend entries manually. Here are the steps to do so:
  1. Right-click on the legend and select "Select Data" from the menu.
  2. In the "Select Data Source" dialog box, select the trendline series that you want to remove from the legend.
  3. Click on the "Remove" button to delete the selected series from the legend.
  4. Repeat steps 2-3 for any other trendline series that you want to remove from the legend.
  5. Click "OK" to close the "Select Data Source" dialog box.

Nevermind, I found the answer by searching the archives of this forum.
I apologize for not doing that first! BTW, the answer is to simpmly
click on the legend and then click on the icon you want to remove in
the legend (DUH).

Thanks again,
Kerry

No wait! That didn't work, I just noticed that it removed the actual
trendlines w/ the legend icons!

Instead of selecting the legend key (the icon or line representing the
trendline in the legend), select the legend entry, which is the text label
for the trendline, then press Delete. This leaves the trendline intact but
removes the label in the legend.
