I exported a 205000 record file from Cyrstal Report to Excel 2003. The export
went smoothely with no errors. However, when I open the file it seems to hang
up and never open. In fact windows Task mgr tells it never responds. What
should i do?

You will not be able to import that many records directly into XL2003,
as there is a limit of 65536 rows per sheet. You might find this site
useful in your stuation:

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;120596

An alternative to consider is to upgrade to XL2007, which has 1
million rows.

Hope this helps.

Pete

.. 205000 record file ..

I think the above exceeds Excel 2003's max rows (65536), so that could be
key ...

The OP doesn't specify what version of XL she's using. However, my
recollection is that if there are more rows in the table than Excel can
handle it just displays the 65,000 rows and ignores the rest.

My guess is there is another issue here, such as RAM

Dave,

OP doesn't specify what version of XL she's using

Thought the OP stated in her opening line:
.. exported a 205000 record file
from Cyrstal Report to Excel 2003

You could be right about the RAM having an impact, too.
