Is there a way to make a letter have an assigned numerical value.
Example: If the letter P is entered into a blovk then it will be recognized as 12.25. |

Go to the Insert menu, choose Name, then Define. Enter P in the "Names In
Workbook" box and enter your numeric value in the "Refers to" box. You can then do formulas like =P+1 -- Cordially, Chip Pearson Microsoft MVP - Excel Pearson Software Consulting, LLC www.cpearson.com (email address is on the web site) wrote in message oups.com... Thanks that helped but I ran into another problem.
Cycle 1 Jan. 1- Jan. 14 1/1 Status OT TD 1/8 Status OT TD 1/2 1/9 1/3 1/10 5 1/4 1/11 1/5 1/12 1/6 1/13 1/7 1/14 Totals Reg. 0 OT TD Hol. Sick In the status column is where the letter P will be entered. At the 0 next to regular hours, I need P to enter in the formula along with other number values that are present. An example would be at 1/2-P, at 1/4-8. So next to Reg. should be the #20.25. I cannot get this portion to work. Chip Pearson wrote: Go to the Insert menu, choose Name, then Define. If P is meant to represent 12.25, why do you expect the formula 1/2-P to
represent 20.25? I would expect 1/2-P to give -11.75. Also, I didn't understand what you meant by "at 1/4-8"? Exactly what formula have you put in the cell? -- David Biddulph wrote in message oups.com... Thanks that helped but I ran into another problem.
