When Smart Tags are turned on, Excel recognizes specific entries and will add
a smart tag where applicable. For example, if you enter MSFT, Excel will recognize this as a stock symbol and add the smart tag. My question is how do I get Excel to recognize an entry as a stock symbol and add the smart tag if it doesn't do it automatically? |

I've never used smart tags, but I typed "smart tags" into the "ask a question"
box. Part of the help screen (xl2002) showed this: How to get more smart tags You can click More Smart Tags (on the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options, and then click the Smart Tags tab) to go to Web sites to find new smart tags and actions. Ah, you can read the rest in Help. I clicked on a couple of links and found this: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/as...833041033.aspx with this as a label to a link: Creating smart tags and setting smart tag properties I clicked on it and it didn't work for me. Maybe you'll have better luck. SauveC wrote: When Smart Tags are turned on, Excel recognizes specific entries and will add a smart tag where applicable. Dave, thanks for trying. I had already been there and all it did was provide
me with more "types" of Smart Tags. I was not able to figure out how to make Excel recognize a cell entry as a stock symbol if it didn't attach the Smart Tag automatically. If you have Smart Tags turned on and you enter MSFT in a cell, it will automatically attach the Smart Tag, but when I try to enter the stock symbol for my company it doesn't. Could you get that link that had the label of:
Creating smart tags and setting smart tag properties to work for you? Maybe there's something in there that will help. SauveC wrote: Dave, thanks for trying.
