Default what happened

hi all, this has just started to happen.when i save as a new work book and
close.when i reopen the work book and save again a dialogue pops up and asks
me to save as again,or i have to choose the location and then i have to
replace the existing work book with the updated one.i used to be able to just
save the work book after i made new entries.what happend? thx wyn

To me, it sounds like a misbehaving macro.

Maybe you can find the developer of that workbook and ask a few questions.

If it happens to all your files (even the ones you just created), then maybe you
have a misbehaving macro in your book.xlt template workbook. Look for code in
that workbook to see if you can find anything that looks funny.
