Default Adding a horizontal line to a stock chart

Hi!

I've got a stock chart displaying the average value and a high-low-line
for each value displaying the min/max value. Furthermore I have the
number of values the from which the min/max/avg values are derieved
plotted on the secondary axis.

Now I want to add a horizontal line for the primary axis at a given
value.
My solutions so far aren't really satisfactory.
Solution 1: drawing a line
Drawback: when the scaling changes, the line has to be
moved.

Solution 2: adding a new series with 2 fixed values and making a
trendline out of it
Drawback: the high-low-values are messed up

Are there any other possibilities? I think the solution given for line
and column charts by Jon Peltier isn't applicable - or do I miss
something?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,
Rene

I have added a horizontal line to area charts.
try this
create your new series of a single value you want on the chart
add the series to the chart
in the chart, right click on the new series and change its chart type to XY
(scatter)
back in the "source data" boxes for this new series:
make the X values the same as the x axis labels
make the Y values your series of single value..

back in the chart, you can right click on the new series and change color if
this helps

hope this helps

Default Adding a horizontal line to a stock chart

Thanks to both!!

The most important thing is that you choose XY (scatter) as chart type
for your new series, so both hints were really helpful.

@Jon: I already had a look at your page, but probably missed the main
point!

I solved my problem now by using 2 fixed values as series (instead of
the data embedded in the worksheet) and then I added X-error bars
(because I need only a horizontal line at a fixed height)

Thanks again,
Rene
