![]() Hello! I've searched through the posts, and couldn't find this question listed. I want to change the values of the Y-axis to reflect the definitions I've chosen instead of numbers. I'm using a simple column chart, I'm not 100% sure if it's the chart or the way I've set up my table that's the problem. Below is a simplified example of what I'm trying to do. I want the series data, or the columns/X-axis to reflect the items Spending, Expenses, Budget. I want to have the values of the Y-axis to list Low, Medium, High, and for the columns to go to the appropriate level for the Y-axis. Spending Expenses Budget Low 1 Medium 2 High 3 I also tried this format for the table. Spending Expenses Budget Low 1 1 1 Medium 1 1 High 1 Thank you, Kara McCormic -- kmccormic ------------------------------------------------------------------------ kmccormic's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=32983 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=528108 |

Type Spending, Expenses, Budget in B1:D1
In B2:D2 enter values 1, 2, 3 Make chart from A1:D2 Format the y-axis: white font, transparent background: this hides the numbers on the y-axis With chart selected, in Formula bar Low. This makes a text box that can be dragged to line up with the gridline at y=1 Same for next two Alternatively use Bovey XY Chartlabeler (www.appspro.com) - it works with all chart types best wishes -- Bernard V Liengme www.stfx.ca/people/bliengme remove caps from email "kmccormic" wrote in message ... ![]() Hello Bernard, Thank you for your response. I'm getting lost at the point where you mention "in formula bar Low." I'm not sure what you're referring to. As an alternative to making the font white for the Y-axis, you can actually tell the chart not to display any values at all by going to Chart Options/Axes and unchecking "Value at Y axis." I'll definitely check out that site. Cheers, Kara Bernard Liengme Wrote: Type Spending, Expenses, Budget in B1:D1 In B2:D2 enter values 1, 2, 3 Make chart from A1:D2 Format the y-axis: white font, transparent background: this hides the numbers on the y-axis With chart selected, in Formula bar Low.
