Default need to lock 5 cells but not protect entire sheet

Protection is really your only option.
To make things a little easier Click Tools|Customize - Commands Tab -
Format and then drag the lock icont to one of your toolbars. This will make
locking and unlocking cells a lot easier.

Hightlight all of the cells in the entire spreadsheet and click the Lock
icon. Now all of your cells are unlocked. Hit F5 - Special - Formulas -
Ok. Now every cell that contains a formula is selected. Click the lock icon
again to lock these cells. Now protect the sheet.

Everything on the sheet should be open for editing except your formulas
which are the only thing that is locked by the protection...

I am doing a budget spreadsheet that will always need editing but I don't
want anyone to remove the formulas from cells where the final totals appear.
If I protect the worksheet, I can't edit anything. How can I lock only those
5 cells and still work on the other.
