Close excel
windows start button|run
excel /safe
This opens excel with lots of stuff disabled (customized toolbars/macros).
Can you do a file|open and then File|Save As?
Close excel.
If that works, maybe someone was screwing with the toolbar and hosed things up.
Restart excel.
Tools|customize|toolbars tab
select worksheet menu bar
click Reset
This will reset any customizations you've done to that toolbar.
If that doesn't work,
close excel
windows start button|Search
For: *.xlb
rename them all to *.xlbOLD
restart excel and test it out.
If that works, delete all those *.xlbOLD files and rebuild any customized
toolbars at your leisure.

Dave - I checked this out and I don't have this virus. I'm running Office
2003 on XP and I have run the specific scans for this virus. I have also
tried to restore my system to a date when I though excel was working and that
didn't work. I've tried running the repair and reinstallations but they blow
up with an error half way thru. Any ideas?

I just started having a problem saving a newly created excel file. When I do
a "save as" nothing happens. When I hit esc I can work in the file again.
If I have a previously saved file I can "save" it but I can't "save as".
I've run all the virus checks and ad-ware but nothing seems to help.
