Default data in cell repeating

I am trying to assist a coworker with a problem, but I am stumped. When they
are entering data into a cell, it is automatically repeating in the same
cell. For example, if they type Directive, the cell with display
DirectiveDirective. When I double clicked on the cell to edit, Directive
would only appear once. I can delete the cell entirely, but this probem
continually occurs with them. Does anyone know why this is occurring?

Hi,

Is it just the word 'Directive' that does this?
If so have a look in
Tools|Auto Correct Options
Type Directive in the left box and see if something appears in the right. If
it does delete the auto correction.

It sounds as though the "Fill" format has been applied to the cell(s) by
accident or by design, perhaps as a joke.

Click in the "bad" cell and from the Menu Bar:

<Format <Cells <Alignment tab,
and see if the Horizontal window displays "Fill:.
