Default Linked Charts in Word/Excel 2007

Id appreciate any thoughts on this one its driving me crazy
We have a Word document which has many excel charts that are linked to it
Both the Word and Excel document were build it in 2007, so both 2007 pure.
But now when we link in the charts they are acting up so we checked the links
and it says the link type is a Microsoft Office Excel 97-2003 Worksheet
We have made sure our word and excel save options are for 2007 and not auto
down saving
But it still seems to be when we link
Any thoughts because when it does that it makes our charts wacky since we
are in a .dotx with linked 2003 charts

Hi gb0dms,

What is the file format of the Excel workbook? Does it have an xlsx extension?

Also, if you save the Word document in the 97-2003 format, and format one or more of the charts 'in-line with text', then press
Alt-F9, the linking field code will be displayed. For an Excel 2007 workbook, the filename in the LINK field should include the xlsx
extension.

Default Linked Charts in Word/Excel 2007

both the word and the excel are saved as 2007 docs (.xlsx and .dotx)
when we alt F9 it shows the link and the file extenstion is .xlsx
but when you go to manage your link
either by right clicking and clicking links
or by
Window|Prepare|Edit/Manage Links
it says again the
Source File: has .xlsx extension
Item in File: has a .xlsx extension
Link Type: Here is where it says Microsoft Office Excel 97-2003 Worksheet

Hi gb0dms,

OK, In what sense are the charts 'acting up'/'wacky'? Those descriptions don't give anyone much to work with.

Default Linked Charts in Word/Excel 2007

It will either change them into pictures
or change them into objects
and when you right click on it and try to open
you get the error
"Object is Corupt or is no longer available"

Hi gb0dms,

Have you installed the Office 2007 SP1 update? Have you tried repairing your Office installation (Word Options (or Excel
options)|Resources|Run MS Office Diagnostics)?
