Default Links between workbooks

My current project is to allocate a workbook to many individuals. Rather than
update the many different workbooks I have ONE workbook in another location.
This ONE workbook then accepts any changes required. The many individuals'
workbooks are then updated whe opened.

I built my workbooks using 2003 but the other individuals have a mix of
office versions. When they are opened by other individuals they return a YES
to updating workbooks but the workbook shows three or even four links that I
have not entered.

I did the same last year and included a macro that this year was not
required, could this be my area to troubleshoot?

Where is the problem my end or user end?

Please ask more questions if you think you can help...

Here's hoping,
Eddie
