Default When inputting data in a cell, 20 becomes .20. How do I change?

The format for the cell is set for currency 2 decimal places. When I input
20 in the cell, the cell shows .20. I would like to be able to type 20 and
have 20 in the cell.

I'm guessing that you also turned on:

(in xl2003 menus)
Tools|Options|edit tab|Fixed decimal places
Uncheck this option and try it again.
