Default PivotTable Groupind

When using real dates, is it possible to group months together in any way
other than the calendar year?
I can do this easily enough when the dates are identified with the actual
words January, February, etc. But, this forces me to have an extra field in
my list. I would prefer to just dates: 1/1/2004,2/15/2004, etc. and group
them into the necessary quarters. Q1 would be 2-1-04 to 4-30-04, for instance.
