Default undo/redo action

A user in my office is sporadically losing the function of the redo button.
He changes data in several cells, is able to undo, but the redo button is
grayed out. Is there a reason that the redo button would not work? I have
checked that autosave is not active...so it's not a matter of the file being
saved between mouse-clicks on the undo/redo buttons. Also, the redo button
will work sometimes, then in the same worksheet (usually the same cells) will
not work just a few minutes later. What's going on? Anyone else have this
problem?

If the user runs a macro (or an event macro fires), the undo/redo stack can be
lost.

(Are you Dlemma2? If yes, you have additional responses at your other post.)

There are events that are just lying in wait. When the user does something
(selects a cell, changes a cell (or more)), this macro can run and destroy the
undo/redo stack.

All answers so far have addressed losing the "undo" as well as "redo" stack.

From OP's original post the point is that the "undo" works well but the "redo"
is sporadic.

This has not been addressed.

This would have little to do with macros AFAICS.

I too notice that the "redo" is sometimes not available. I believe on certain
operations the redo cannot be re-done.

I have never tracked which, so am no help.

Oops. I reread (or read for the first time!) and see I missed the point.

But I, too, have noticed the same thing you noticed.
