How do I globally turn off the automatic addition of a hyperlink when I type
an e-mail address is a cell in Excel 2000?

You don't, Bil. But you can try something like this:

Put a button on your toolbar for it, or you could place it in the
Workbook_Save or Workbook_Close or something.
Change the range from ("A1:A10") to ("A:IV") to make it work on the entire
worksheet.
