Default control shift highlighting does not work

When holding control & shift and a direction, excel does not jump to the end
of the range. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks in advance

Perhaps you've got transition keys on?
Tools--Options, Transition tab. Uncheck anything that says "Lotus" or
