Default Help please, excel format conversion

I have thousands of numbers in a colum in the following format 1/234567/890 and need to convert them into this format 123-456789-0. Could someone please advise on a formula for this conversion. I will be eternally grateful

In a helper cell, put a formula like:
=TEXT(--SUBSTITUTE(A1,"/",""),"000-000000-0")
and drag down the range.

You can copy|paste special|values and delete the original range if you want.
