Default Keep XL 2000 as default app

I have a user that needs to get XL 2003 installed to access reports from a
vendor. After a month of working with the vendor to make their reports
backwards compatible to our standard Excel 2000, we've determined that will
not work.

My plan is to install Excel 2003, without uninstalling Excel 2000. When I
tried it on a test machine, XL2003 took over and made itself the deafult for
all things spreadsheet. Because we still use XL2000 as the deafult for the
rest of the company, I want to keep XL2000 as the default for this machine as
well. Ideas?

I tried to set the deafult app for XLS, and browsed to the excel.exe under
my Office 9 folder; but it still opens XL2003 whenever I open an XLS file.

Thanks!

Default

Find xl2k's excel.exe.

My excel.exe for xl2003 is in:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11

Then reregister that version:

Close excel
windows start button|run
YourpathtoXL2k.exe /unregserver
then
YourpathtoXL2k.exe /regserver

Since my path contains spaces, I'd do:
"c:\program files\microsoft office\office11\excel.exe" /unregserver
then
"c:\program files\microsoft office\office11\excel.exe" /regserver

The last version registered should control the program associated with .xls.
