problem from Personal.xls
Having Personal.xls *is* handy. But when starting a "new" workbook,
Excel *assumes* I mean "Personal.xls" and opens "it". If I save it as my new book, it contains my macros from "Personal.xls". And I can't seem to DELETE all the macros from within the workbook that was originally "Personal.xls". I've moved (saved) Personal.xls and deleted it from XLSTART, so Excel won't open it, while I try to fix my "new" book. I *still* can't. What's the secret to starting a new workbook? Devoid of macros, or whatever? Having one lying around called "BLANK.XLS" so Excel won't assume I mean Personal.xls? This is driving me crazy. Anyone have any ideas, thoughts, suggestions? Thanks in advance, Tom |

Most people have that personal.xls workbook hidden.
Open excel, if you can see personal.xls, then window|hide. Close excel and answer yes to the "do you want to save your changes to personal.xls workbook" Then reopen excel. Do you have the same problem? ====== If you do, maybe it's your default workbook template that's being used and that has your macros in it. You can place a workbook template named book.xlt into that same XLStart folder (where personal.xls is located). If you put macros in book.xlt, then all new workbooks based on that template would inherit those macros. I'd move book.xlt (or delete and recreate it) to test. Thanks so much! Window|Hide fixed it.

Now excel should open normally. Personal.xls will be open, but hidden, which is correct |
