Default You Must Enter A Number In This Cell

I have the respective cells formatted to General and have made sure that the
work sheet is unprotected. I have also check for any formulas that might
refer to these range of cells--there are none.

Each time I attempt to enter the color of the item in this cell, i.e. black,
I receive the above message.

Please help.

Thanks, victor

La, could be data validation, click on the cell and then go to data
validation and see if there is anything there
